BIKE PATH AND NEW INFRASTRUCTURE IN COORANBONG

Johnson Property Group (JPG) and the South Pacific Division of the Seventh-day Church (SPD) are in a joint venture partnership to deliver the 2,500 lots in Watagan Park. SPD’s proceeds will be set aside in an endowment fund for the benefit of Avondale University College.

As part of the delivery of new housing lots to Cooranbong, JPG and Council have an infrastructure delivery agreement (called the Cooranbong Planning Agreement). That infrastructure agreement is sought to be amended by Council and JPG to ensure, among other things, that the facilities and infrastructure that will be delivered meet current community expectations.

Of interest to Avondale will be the delivery of:

  • Shared pathways, through Avondale College land, linking Cooranbong to Morisset;

  • Sports facilities at Cooranbong Park, incorporating

    • Two full-size rectangular playing fields for soccer, football or rugby use.

    • Two outdoor synthetic multi-courts for basketball/netball, tennis or soccer use

    • Cricket pitch and training net facilities

    • 560sqm clubhouse amenities building that includes player change rooms, kiosk, toilets, storage areas and function space

    • Carparking facilities

  • Sports facilities on site, incorporating

    • Full-size AFL/cricket field (plus provision to convert into two full-size rectangular playing fields for soccer, football or rugby use.

    • Cricket pitch

    • 920sqm amenities building incorporating a multi-purpose centre

    • A skatepark

    • Fenced dog exercise area with dog exercise equipment and park furniture

  • Road intersection improvement works

These are only some of the infrastructure items to be delivered.

If you support infrastructure delivery for the benefit of Cooranbong and Avondale, please let Council know by COB on 14 April 2021 by completing a quick Council survey.
